- Never been snowboarding? Under 30? Watch this [8 mins] and book tix to the mountains for next weekend.
- We got the impossible shot. Going to Svalbard to take a photograph of a skier silhouetted against a solar eclipse? in midwinter? why not? Alpine-style it's not.
- Word of mouth. A great magazine programme on BBC wireless. Here's one on Linnean binomers: how we name living things. The Blob has been on about naming: genes, primates, scientific units.
- Which is just wonderful because one of the speakers cites Geoffrey Grigson's book An Englishman's Flora which I was unable to track down or cite properly a couple of weeks ago.
- Long intriguing essay about how English is not normal.
- Word of mouth again: 30 BBC minutes on the (English) alphabet . Apparently the series, which is a whole heap of fun for presenters and listeners both, is from an original idea by Frank Delaney from Tipperary. Huzzah!
- Here's a real neat twist-in-the-tail audio piece by our own Rissoles Hayes.
Bonus: bit part by His Blobbiness.
