Easter Bunny

Rabbits Oryctolagus cuniculus are associated with Easter because of the phrase 'breed like rabbits' and their association with fecundity. English takes its word for the feast of death and resurrection from Eostre an Anglo-Saxon fertility goddess. French Pâques and other romance languages Pascua, Pasqua, Páscoa, Paști and Nordic: påsk, påske, and even Greek Πάσχα go straight to the Aramaic root of pasha = passover.
